19457 from Bill Fairbanks, Terre Haute, Indiana:
Mr. Fairbanks,
Regarding William Fairbanks, ID:193362 (and several others in this - my - branch of the family) I have been collecting definitive information for a number of years. William (193362) was my great grandfather. Mary Thacker was his first wife. They had three children - Hattie Bell, Bessie Amelia, and Elmer. William's second wife was Mary House. They had six children - Ozeta, George Earl, William Henry, Margaret, Dorothy, and Ruth.
William's father was George, elder brother of Hiram Tolbert ( 511) of Petaluma, California. Anyway, I have rather a lot of information, but not much time to polish it up.
I've been constructing my branch through Ancestry Family Tree, but it is tediouswork owing to my unfamiliarity with the proofs and forms and citations.
It may take a while, but when it is presentable, I think what I've gathered will solve some mysteries, and correct some misinformation.
Just wanted someone to know.

Classification: Query
Surnames: Whiting, Hall, Ambler
I am new to Ancestry.com, so a little unfamiliar with the process. However, I do have some information about a Jabez Whiting . I have not verified any of this yet but it should be fairly reliable. It comes from a family history collected by my great-aunt. According to her records, the Jabez Whiting
Whiting in our family was born in Boston Boston, Lincolnshire, England on 4 April 1790. His father was Peacock Whiting and his mother was Elizabeth Hall.

He emigrated to the United States, arriving in Philadelphia PA on 20 June 1817. He married Betsey Betsey T. Ambler on 24 August 1837. He died on 17 April 1878. I would be interested to know how this compares to other information you have about Whiting familiy members in England There may have been more than one Jabez Whiting around that time (the one I have information about could have been named after one of his other relative) or one of his parents may connect up to people about whom you have information. I hope this is useful to you.

Bates, Lucy (I8695)

19485 Gary Keith Whiting passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on December 16th, 2015 at the age of 78.
Gary was born on February 18th, 1937 in Spokane, Washington the third of four children to Lloyd and Lillian Whiting. His father relocated the family to Richland in 1949 to work on the Hanford project and Gary attended school in Richland graduating from Columbia High School in 1955. Gary enlisted in the Navy soon after high school, spending 4 years abroad as a Seabee. He came home on leave to marry his childhood sweetheart Sandra Fay Reninger in 1957 and began raising a family.
In 2003 he retired at Battelle, after working as a technician for 40 years. Retirement allowed him to focus more energy on the activities he enjoyed. Gary loved spending time with his children and his grandchildren. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing and scouting with his friends and family; always having a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon at his side.
Gary will be remembered as a generous and loving father, grandfather, and friend.
Gary was preceded in death by his wife Sandra of 48yrs, parents Lloyd and Lillian Whiting, sister Doloris Hyde and brother Raymond (Bud) Whiting.
He is survived by his sister Kathy (Kent) Madsen; children Chad (Robin) Whiting, Guy Whiting and Heather Rader; five grandchildren Logan Whiting, Jessica (Travis) Dortch, Jordan Rader-Cliber, Mckenna and Kirby Rader; four great grandchildren
Graveside and memorial services will be held on January 2, 2016 at Einan's Funeral Home in Richland at 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm respectively.

Sonoma County News Notes Petaluma April 30

J.F. FAIRBANKS breathed his last at his home Saturday night about 9 o'clock. An hour earlier than death actually arrived it was reported on the street that he had died. He was conscious to the last. His wife and family relatives were with him when he died.

The deceased was born in Iowa in 1858 and a year later came to California with his parents. His father, first came to California in 1850. The father returned to Iowa and was there married. Frank Fairbanks was the fourth child of the family and the third son.

Deceased lived most of his life in Petaluma. For several years before he married, he was interested in
northern California mines. When H.T. Fairbanks purchased the Golden Eagle mills he installed Frank Fairbanks as manager. For 13 years the deceased handled the big property to good advantage. He was a bright business man and ambitious for the welfare of his town.

Deceased left a considerable fortune to his widow and family. By his own exertions he amassed an estate of some $25,000 or $30,000. Knowing his serious state of health, Mr. Fairbanks some time ago deeded all of his property to his wife.

Funeral of Frank Fairbanks

The funeral of Frank Fairbanks took place Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the residence. It was one of the largest funerals ever held in Southern Sonoma. The beautiful burial service of the Masonic Lodge, of which deceased was an honored member, lent additional solemnity to the occasion.
