ELISHA's father died when Elisha was 18. Probate records say that in Feb. 1736 he chose John Stillman of Wethersfield as his guardian. He is said to have lived in the house on Wolcott Hill that his brother, Samuel, built in 1750. He was a deacon in the Wethersfield church, and in 1790 owned one slave.
