Thera Remund Whiting died 10 Jan 2002
Born 23 Sept 1913
Thera Elizabeth Remund Whiting, age 88, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2002 in Salt Lake City, surrounded by her immediate family.
She was born September 23, 1913 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Albert Remund and Anna Mina Louise Madsen and was a graduate of Granite High School. She married Wayne E. Whiting on August 23, 1934 in the Salt Lake Temple.
She was an active member of the LDS Church throughout her life. She served as chorister, choir member and in the Relief Society. She worked in the Granite School District lunch program. Thera loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with Wayne, family and friends. She was an avid gardener and fastidious housekeeper. She loved her (six) grandchildren and (19) great-grand-children dearly and enjoyed family gatherings at her home. She provided special support to her daughter and son and families throughout their lives. She compiled extensive genealogical records and history books for all family members. She enjoyed visiting family, including her grandson in Hawaii. She was an avid Utah Jazz fan and of her family's baseball games. She was a special friend to all who knew her and a lovely lady to the end. Our thanks to the staff at the St. Marks Hospital for their services.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne E. Whiting (November 12, 1989), parents, brothers Lynell and Alden, sisters Thelma and Wilmina. Survived by son Duane Lester (Beverly) Whiting, daughter Arleen Mina Whiting, six grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and sister Mildred Carrie Moore.
Funeral services will be held Saturday June 15, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Winder 6th Ward, 4366 S. 1500 E., Salt Lake City, Utah. Viewing will be Friday, June 14 from 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Dr. and Saturday from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to services at the church. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
