    p. 24: William Brown was a leading shipping merchant of Philadelphia, but lost his money during the Revolution by capture of his ships. He had an extesnsive ship bakery on 4th St., near Race, and had a hight reputation. After his death his bread brand sold for $500. For declining to take off his had to the British Crown, he received a severe had wound from which he never recovered.
