    Mrs. Morand, age 86, passed away May 22, 2009 at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Harrisville, Michigan on May 19, 1923 to the late Capt. Carl and Minnie (Whiting) Fuhrman. She was a graduate of Hurley School of Nursing and was in the Cadet Nurse Corp while in nursing school. Margaret worked as a Registered Nurse in area hospitals and for the Bay County Health Dept., as well as for Dr. Michael Dardas. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Women's Auxiliary for many years. Margaret was a member of the Bay City Junior Women's Club and the Essexville Women's Club, where she served as President from 1982-1985, as well as the Essexville-Hampton Board of Education from 1966-1978, serving many years as President. She enjoyed her sewing and bridge clubs where she spent time with her life-long friends.
    On August 23, 1947, she married Robert R. Morand in Bay City and he preceded her in death on November 21, 2005. She is survived by 3 children: Carla Dustin, Patti (Mark) Marra-ccini and Paul (Jill) Morand, 6 grandchildren: Andrew and Adam Dustin, Michael and Steven Marra-ccini and Elizabeth and Kathleen Morand, a niece, Sylvia Kramp and her family as well as 2 sisters-in-law: Virginia Lesperance and Frances Morand. She was preceded in death by a brother, R.J. Scott, a sister, Grace Kramp and 2 nephews: David and Robert Kramp. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. Jeffrey D. Weenink will officiate. Interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. She will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to First Presbyterian Church or the Heritage House Museum.
