"William E Whiting's family was found in the record of membership of Lima Stake. The record showed Lydia B Babcock with Children: Edmond W., Mary M. and Martha B. Whiting. Mary and Martha, the twins were listed as under eight years; also Morenda. A. English and Charles H. English were under eight. That pointed to the factthat lydia had been widowed a second time and had married a third husband named Babcock. She and her children were listed as members of the Lima Stake when it was organizedin 1840. She had come with the church from Missouri to Illinois.

Edmond William Whiting was married to Agusta McConoughly 19 July, 1857. His sister Martha, being then almost 24, was probably already married. Her Husband's name was Willoughby. Their sister Mary's second husband was Doughty. [Taken from family group sheets] Edmond Whiting's half brothers, Charles and Simon English were grown by that time, and were probably in the area. Charles was living in nearby Hamburg in later years.
