      2. Rev. Jonathan MARSH was born on 7 Aug 1685 in Hadley, Hampshire,
Massachusetts. He died on 8 Sep 1747 in Windsor, Hartford, Connecticut.
John Marsh of Hartford, CT; Marsh Genealogy 1636 - 1895; Compiled by Dwight
Whitney Marsh of Amherst, Mass. Published by Press of Carpenter & Marebouse,
      Amherst, Mass, 1895. p. 311.
Graduated at Harvard college, 1705, teacher at Hadley Hopkins academy,
1706-7, salary 30 pounds, settled at Windsor, Ct., June, 1710. At first
settled as colleague of Rev. Mr. Mather, remained pastor there at Windsor 37
years by the beautiful river of all his days, until his death ae. 62. He
published "election sermons," delivered before the general court, in 1721 and
1737. His success is thus alluded to in the "History of the First Church of
Hartford:" "Meantime, only so far away as Windsor , a very remarkable revival
had taken place under the ministry of Rev. Jonathan Marsh." Yet like many of
the strong men of his dy he was wary of new measures. In 1741 he was of the
council that disapproved of "Faintings and convulsions" as necessary for
conviction of sin, and of visions for the bodily eye. At one time he was
honored with a military guard to escort him.

Genealogies of Hadley Families, Embracing the Early Settlers of the Towns of
