H., Juine 4, 1830; removed with his parents to Newport in 1840; now resides there and is engaged in mercantile business. He is an influential and prominent citizen, and has taken an active interest in public affairs. He was a member of the House of Representatives in 1877, and State Senator in 1881 and 1882. In 1893 he was elected one of the County Commissioners for two years. He has been for many years an active member of the Methodist Church. Married I, Eunice E. Chapin, daughter of Dea. Henry Chapin. Married II, Helen M. Nourse, Nov. 19, 1855. She was born in Acworth, N. H., Aug. 18, 1829, daughter of Daniel and Margaret (Wilson) Nourse.
