  • Notes
    • A duplicate certificate (#38611) of the baptism and confirmation of Melba Anderson into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was issued on October 11 1978, confirming
that both events took place in Vanscoy, Saskatchewan, Canada on June 25, 1930. The officiant for both events was E. L. Bowerman. The events were recorded in church records at Independence, Missouri in July, 1930. A patriarchal blessing was bestowed upon her in Shellbrook, Saskatchewan on July 22, 1938 by Ray Whiting (paper recorded by Mrs. Ray Whiting). I have two documents verifying both events.
In later life, she was presented with life membership (on two separate occasions) to the United
Church of Canada in Lake Cowichan, British Columbia. She was at her church doing volunteer work,
when she was struck with a stroke which led to her death two weeks later.
Melba was mentally, emotionally and physically strong. She was a determined, intelligent, generous (to a fault), benevolent, caring and loving person. She dedicated her life to her family, her religion, her church, her friends, her community, her country and her politics. She worked her fingers to the bone for nearly all of her life, and never tired of doing for others. She was a recipient of Canada's special 125 celebration award for "service to her community and her country", and she never understood what she had done to deserve it.
