- OBITUARY FOR JANNETTE (MURDOCK) ANTHONY
Mrs. Arthur Anthony dies October 13
Mrs. Arthur Anthony of Clitherall, Minnesota died at her home in Clitherall on Wednesday, October 13 at the age of 78. Services were held Saturday at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with Elder Frank Smith officiating. Diane Trosdahl was the organist, and Mrs. Dorothy Norgren sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond The Sunset". Pallbearers were Clifford Ukkelberg, Burton Kimber, Joe Dahl, Berdell Lunning, Kenneth Smith and Clifford West. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Jannette, daughter of Orison and Cordelia (Whiting) Murdock, was born on July 11, 1898 in Nidaros Township. She was united in marriage to Arthur F. Anthony in April of 1917 and in 1918 they moved to Missouri, returning to Clitherall in 1936.
She served as assessor for Clitherall for many years, and also taught sewing at the Singer Company in Fergus Falls for several years. She was a life-long member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Whiting, who were among the early ptoneers who settled at Clitherall in 1865.
She is survived by one daughter, Evie (Mrs. Duane Leth) of Clitherall; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margurite (Mrs. E. G. Kelley) of Des Moines, Iowa and Ione (Mrs. James McNeill) of Oakwood Village, Ohio; and a brother, Ellis Murdock of Independence, Missouri. Her husband preceded her in death in 1959. Nilson Funeral Home in Battle Lake was in charge of the arrangements.
