Born in Portsmouth, N. H., Dec. 17, 1849; removed to Dover, his present residence. He is a graduate of the Chandler Scientific Department of Dartmouth Collete, class of 1871, and of the Harvard Medical School in 1877. He is a member of the N. H. Medical Society, and of the Strafford Medical Society, of which he was President in 1889-90. He was secretary of the same, 1879-88, 1891-1896; County Physician 1878-81; City Physician 1881-1896; member of the School Committee from 1881 to 1896; and secretary of the same from 1884 to 1896; one of the Water Commissioners from the organization of the Board in 1888 to 1896.
He married in Dover, Oct. 21, 1884, Emma Belle Caswell, daughter of Cornelius E. and Betsey T. Caswell. She died May 28, 1888.
