- [S16] Genealogy of the Fairbanks Family in America 1633-1897, Lorenzo Sayles Fairbanks, A.M., Late Counsellor at Law, (Boston: The American Printing & Engraving, Company, 1897), reprinted by the Fairbanks Family in America 1991 3rd ed.., page 152.
He was an industrious man, but somewhat eccentric.
He lived in the old house alone after the death of his mother, till a few months before he died, when, sick and weak in body and mind by reason of age, he applied to the town officers to take care of him, saying he had some money in bank and some buried in the cellar. They provided a comfortable home for him in the family of a neighbor; the money (several hundred dollars) which he had secreted, and which was found, being more than sufficient to support him during the remainder of his life. Administration was granted upon his estate soon after his death.
