He married Mrs. Mary Lewis, (Int. Nov. 30, 1753), widow of Isaac Lewis, and daughter of Nathaniel and Joanna (Ellis) Whiting of Dedham. She was a descendant in the fourth generation of Nathanial and Hannah Whiting, who were among the original settlers of Dedham. She was born Feb. 22, 1713/1714; died Nov. 31, 1798, aged 84 yrs., 8 mos., 29 ds.
Her first husband, who died in 1749, left a handsome property for those times. It was inventoried at [pounds] 1303-12-9. The inventory mentions houselot of 98 acres with buildings, [pounds] 312-10, meadow 22 acres, [pounds] 192-10, woodland 60 acres, [pounds] 120. Widow's thirds set off, June 30, 1758, to Mary Fairbanks. See Dedham Historical Register, October 1893, pp. 151-2.
Dec. 21, 1753, John Fairbanks and Joseph Whiting, Jr. became sureties for Isaac Whiting, as guardian of Abigail, John and Mary Lewis, children of Isaac Lewis, deceased.
Sept. 29, 1759, he gave a bond, with sureties, as guardian of Isaac Lewis, son of Isaac, deceased. Suffolk Probate Records, Files 9297, 10614-10621.
