      the "big men" of Exeter

      He received, as a wedding gift from his parents, all the land known as Squamscot, being about three square miles. This is now the town of Stratham, NH.

      In 1633 Andrew received as a wedding present from his paren ts all the lands known of "Squamscott", about 3 square mile s, a town now known as Stratham, NH. Upon the death of hi s father-in-law, Simon Bradstreet, Jr., Andrew received "al l that debt which is owes me, 50 pounds.

This reference records their marriage 3 Jun 1659, in Andover, MA. THE GREAT MIGRATION BEGINS, vol iii: ANDERSON, Robert Charles: 1996, p 1943. Married BRADSTREET, Ann (Hannah), 11 Jun 1659, Hampton, Rockingham, NH. They had 9 children, most born in Squamscott and most recorded in Hampton, NH, vital records. He was a useful and highly esteemed citizen, though not much engaged in public life. They settled in Squamscott (Stratham). Ann (Hannah) was the daughter of Gov. Simon BRADSTREET of Massachusetts. Andrew received by deed from his father, Thomas, "in consideration of his late marriage with Hannah, daughter of Simon BRADSTREET, of Andover, Esquire," all their land in Quamscot, being about three miles square. By deed dated 10 Jul 1707, he gave land to his son Simon in consideration of an annuity. He sold land to his brother, Thomas. By will he gave the homestead to his son Jonathan and other land to his sons Simon, Andrew and Bradford, his daughter, Abigail FRENCH, and to his grandson, Samuel Wentworth. In the Greenwood Cemetery in Stratham there ia a prominent shaft in the center of the lot erected in honor of Andrew by a namesake in 1886.
