      Was Deputy Sheriff of Penobscot Co., Maine, and held other prominent positions. He was a soldier in the Civil War, and attained the rank, by brevet, of General. After the war he opened a Land and Pension office in Washington, D. C.; acquired large properties in the West. His widow still resides in Washington, D. C. (1896).
