      Dear Brother Killpack,

I obtained your email form New Family Search. I hope you don’t mind me asking you to help me if you can. I have been researching the crossing of the plains of the Cyril Call family line. Nauvoo Records and New Family Search show that Sarah Call married Samuel Mecham. It appears that they had two children, Samuel Alvarus Mecham and Sara Josephine Mecham. You have been a contributor to the record about Sara Josephine Mecham. I have been trying to find when her mother, and brother, Samuel crossed the plains to Utah.

Do you have any information on Sarah CALL Mecham as to when she came to Utah? Do you know what happened to her husband Samuel Mecham or when and where he died? There is quite a discrepancy on new family Search as to those facts. My great great great great grandfather Cyril Call had 13 Children Sarah CALL (Mecham) was one of them. My line goes through his second child, Anson CALL.

Cyril Call started out with his children and extended family were selected to be in the advance party to cross the plains in 1846. They got as far as Nebraska and Brigham Young ask them not to go on because they had learned the Indians had set fire to the prairie grass and it would be better to go the next year. They wintered in Nebraska and were asked to go back to Winter Quarters to help raise crops for the Saints that would be coming. Cyril’s family then crossed the plains in various years from 1848 to 1851. I have been trying to list all of Cyril Calls descendants that went in wagon trains to Utah. Sarah CALL Mecham, Samuel Alvarus Mecham and Sara Josephine Mecham and the husband Samuel Mecham are descendants that I haven’t been able to get any data about.

Any help you could provide would be appreciated.
      Thank you,
      Bro. Francis Call Alder
