      Born in Lawrenceburg, Ind., Feb. 17, 1826; removed to Illinois in 1854, and, in 1863, to Petaluma, Cal., finally settling in San Luis Obispo, where he died Aug. 18, 1883. He served through the Mexican war and the Civil war.

      Married, Oct. 13, 1852, in Wright's Corners, Ind., Lucy Ann, daughter of Charles W. and Louisa (Palmer) Wright, who was born Sept. 15, 1834.
