Born in Franklin, June 3, 1758.
From 1784 to 87 he was prominent in the "new meeting-house party," which consisted of those who had for years been agitating the subject of building a new church. January 7, 1788, the pews in the new house were sold at public vendue. The highest price --17 [pounds], 16 s. 8 d.--was paid by Asa Fairbanks, Jr., and James Metcalf.
He was a soldier of the Revolution. See War Rolls. Died Aug. 29, 1803.
Married, Nov. 23, 1784, Julitta, daughter of Col. James and Abial (Haven) Metcalf. She died Oct. 9, 1843, in the 82d year of her age.
