      Born in Millville (Blackstone), Mass., Sept. 20, 1846.

      He is a woolen manufacturer, and has been engaged in that line, as manager and owner of mills, for many years. Was superintendent and agent of mills in Baltic and Moosup, Conn., and Holden, Mass. Owned and managed one in Janesville, Wis., about 1877; superintendent and agent for a mill in Mapleville, R. I. Thence he went to East Blackstone, about 1888, where he was superintendent and agent of the Avon mill, six years, and during that time was engaged in the same capacity for a mill in Sebec, Me.

      In June 1893, he removed to Guild, N. H., his present residence. There he bought the Granite State Mills. Later he sold these mills, and is now superintendent and manager of the same.

      Married I, Louisa Smith, daughter of Eric Smith, of Gloucester, R. I., Mar. 4, 1875. She died Nov. 17, 1881.

      Married II, Angenette Joslyn, July 6, 1889. She was a daughter of William and Louisa Joslyn.
