Retired Pawtucket Business Man was long prominent in Masonic Affairs.
Archer L. Kent, retired Pawtucket business man and long active in Massonic affairs died Sunday in Attleboro. He was 70 years old and made his home at 955 Central Avenue, Pawtucket.
Born in Pawtucket he was the second son of the late George Warren Kent and Lydia Elzadia Fairbanks Kent whose ancestors settled in or near Dedham, Massachusetts in 1636 and 1640.
After completing his education in the schools of Pawtucket he entered the employ of his father in the grain business known as the Narragansett MillingCompany, Inc. He soon became secretary of the corporation and manager of thePawtucket branch, positions which he held until the business was sold in 1929 to General Mills, Inc. After that Mr. Kent continued for some time as head of the Pawtucket Branch of Farm Service Stores.
In 1897 Mr. Kent married Kezia Burlingame, who survives him. He also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Russell H. Emmott of Woonsocket and Mrs. George W. Dover, Jr. of Pawtucket; two sons Lt.(j.g.) Lloyd W. Kent, U.S.N.R. and Howard F. Kent; five grandchildren, one great grandchild; one brother, Revere W. Kent of Rumford, and two sisters, Mrs. William A. Newell of Providence and Mrs. Royden E. Kent of Seekonk.
A 23rd degree Mason, Mr. Kent held membership in E.L. Freeman Lodge No. 4 F. & A. M.; Pawtucket Royal Arch Chapter, No. 4; Pawtucket Council, No. 2 Royal and Select Masters; Holy Sepulchre Commandery, No. 8 Knights Templar; Palestine Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S; and Rhode Island Consistory, Scotish Rite.
The Funeral willbe held tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 from the mortuary of D.W. Bellows & Sons,85 Park Place, Pawtucket. Rev. John V. Butler, Jr. rector of St. Martin's Church, Providence, will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Rove Cemetery.
