      Born in Wrentham, Mass., Feb. 3, 1829. Resides in Providence, where he has been a master mechanic of the Nicholson File Co., for thirty years.

      On May 26, 1862, he was appointed 2nd Lieut. of Co. F, 10th R. I. Regiment, which was a three months regiment, attached to Gen. Polk's Division.

      On June 1, 1864, he was appointed to a situation in the U. S. Arsenal, at Nashville, Tenn., and remained there as a machinist until August of the same year, when he was obliged to return home on account of sickness.

      Married, Jan. 1, 1861, Mary Elizabeth Brown, daughter of Ezra G. and Abby (Sweet) Brown, of Providence, who was born Apr. 22, 1844.
