Obituary from the Daily Dispatch - Moline, Illinois Page 16 - provided by Ann & Dick Shallberg: Robert Kennedy, 68 years old, a veteran Moline printer and son of one of the early publishers of the Moline Dispatch, died at 8:30 last night in Moline public hospital. He had been ill for six years following a stroke in 1932 and had resided at the Mrs. H.S. Willing home for the aged, 437 Thirty-ninth street. Mr. Kennedy was born December 11, 1869, at Monmouth, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Kennedy. Sam Kennedy published the Dispatch from 1880 to 1882. Robert Kennedy came to Moline with his parents when a boy, learned his trade and for forty-five years was employed by Moline newspapers and Desaulniers & Co., where he last worked. For several years Robert Kennedy and his brother Philip, were employed by the Dispatch. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon in Knox funeral home with the Rev. William R. Hodgdon, pastor of the First Congregational church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. Relatives request that no flowers be sent. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. G.A. Shallberg and Miss Lina Kennedy, both of Moline; and a brother, Philip S. Kennedy of Marinette, Wisconsin. Family links: Parents: Sampson M.
