Notes - Sarah Hawkes was born on 13 October 1776 at Saugus Parish, Lynn, Essex County, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Adam Hawkes and Hannah Newhall . Sarah Hawkes married Lemuel Whiting Jr., son of Lemuel Whiting and Mary Whiting, on 16 July 1797 at Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. Sarah Hawkes married Jacob Puffer before 7 January 1829 at Ashby, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Sarah Hawkes and Jacob Puffer appeared on the census of 10 September 1850 at Leominster, Worcester County, Massachusetts; Jacob Puffer, age 79, had his wife, Sarah Puffer, age 74, living with him. Jacob was a farmer. His real estate value was $1,000. Sarah Hawkes appeared on the census of 12 June 1860 at Page 58, Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts; Sarah Puffer, age 83, was living with her son-in-law, David Boynton, age 60; her daughter, Mary Boynton, age 48, Chas. H. Frost, age 23; Mary Frost, age 23; Willie A. Frost, age 2; Sarah Boynton, age 22; David Boynton, Jr., age 19; Lizzie Boynton, age 14; Chas. E. Boynton, age 12; Geo. Boynton, age 9; and Walter H.
