This is the first time the name “Charles" appears in the Whiting] family. The name was seldom bestowed. upon Puritan chil- dren. This may have been due to the antipathy felt through- out New England to the Stuart kings who played with the destinies of the New England colonies as with pawns in a game of chess. It became, however, a popular name with the Whitings, and after this one child in each generation was called 18 “Charles." This Charles Whiting bore the title of Lieutenant. , (Goodwin, p, 334). He married January 10.1716, Elizabeth Bradford (I696- 1777), daughter of Samuel Bradford of Duxbury, Mass., and great-granddaugbter of Governor William Bradford of Plym- outh. Her mother. Hannah Rogers, was the descendant of John and Priscilla Alden. In the children of these two the blood of the Bradfords, Aldens, Rogers, Mullins, Whitings. Pynchons and Allyns was united. Notes for ARCHIBALD MCNEIL: Narrative taken from "New England Families Genealogical and Memorial: Volume IV." (pg 1736) Archibald McNeil, founder of the Connecticut line, was of Branford, where in 1735 he purchased lands. Subsequently he was a prominent citizen of New Haven, was assessor in 1740 and surveyor of highways in 1746, and was conspicuous in real estate transactions. A circumstance of particular interest is his participation, as one of the "brothers" in founding the first Masonic lodge in Connecticut (now known as Hiram Lodge, No. 1), at a meeting "held at Jehiel Tuttle's in New Haven on the festival of St. John the Evangelist, 1750". This was only seventeen years after the first institution of Masonry in the American colonies (which occurred at Boston, July 3, 1733). Archibald McNeil was successfully engaged in the trade with the West Indies, in partnership with Samuel Cook (who was named as executor of his will), and was owner and supercargo of the ship "Peggy and Molly". He died in the island of Jamaica in the latter part of 1752 (see "Connecticut Colonial Records", vol. X, p. 577), and his will was probated in July, 1753, by his widow, who was placed under bond of three thousand pounds sterling, indicative of a very considerable estate for those times. ============ BIRTH RITE: Also shown as Christening Hartford, Hartford, Connecticut, United States. | 1456 | Dr. John Lewis Dunyon · 8 September 2013 · 0 Comments Dr. John L. Dunyon was born November 9, 1810, in the little fishing town of Newburyport, Massachusetts. He was the son of John and Mary Kendall Dunyon. When he was two and one-half years old his mother died and his father remarried. Owing to the cruelty of his stepmother, he was forced to leave home at the age of seventeen and went to work on a fishing vessel. After a few years at sea he decided to become a doctor. From then on he saved his earnings toward that end. Upon receiving his degree as a doctor of medicine he practiced in Springfield, Illinois, and through the states of Massachusetts and Connecticut. When he was twenty-four years old he married Sarah Ann Reeves in New Lynn, Ohio. To them were born seven children; Chester Reeves and Edwin were drowned at the ages of five and seven, respectively, on the 16th of May, 1847 in the Mississippi River; another child died as a result of burns, and a fourth child was taken from them before she was years of age. The other three children, Newton A. and the twins, Darwin Lewis and Dora Ann lived to maturity. During the years of 1835 - 1849 Dr. Dunyon continued his practice in the east. When news of the gold rush of 1849 in California became known he decided to go west. He arrived in Salt Lake City in the fall of 1849 or early spring of 1850. Here he became interested in Mormonism and was converted to the faith. About the year 1852, he returned to Ohio for his wife and children, but Sarah was so strongly prejudiced against Mormonism that she refused to go with him. Leaving her in Ohio, he took the three children and started for Utah. He brought with him Abby C. Calwalader Brown and her daughter, Ann Kempton Brown, whom he married in Salt Lake City, October 14, 1853. From 1853 to 1865 he made his home in Salt Lake City and Pleasant Grove, Utah where he practiced his profession. He served as medical advisor and practicing physician for President Brigham Young and many other leading families of the Church. In 1856 President Young called him to go to the aid of the ill-fated Martin and Willie handcart companies, and, as a doctor, aided in their entrance into the valley. When Johnston's army attempted to enter the valley, Dr. Dunyon was made an officer of the Utah Militia and went as a doctor to help in the defense of the Saints. He was a member of the first City Council of Salt Lake and it was at this time that a close friendship developed between him and Daniel H. Wells. To John and Ann were born ten children including twin boys who died at birth, and three other children who died in infancy? From the leaves of an old family Bible in the handwriting of Dr. Dunyon is penned the following interesting record: Sacred to the memory of: Elizabeth Charlotte Liddiard. Born April 20, 1833, Eastwoodie, Hampshire, England. The daughter of Levi Aaron Liddiard and Ann Hanson. She was baptized February 22, 1848 in England by Thomas Squires. She immigrated to the City of the Saints in the fall of 1863 in very feeble health and immediately took worse and died Oct. 21, 1863 at the residence of Dr. Dunyon and was buried in the Great Salt Lake City cemetery. Previous to her death she requested to be sealed to me and hence will bear my name and is registered among my family. Dr. Dunyon owned two city blocks with homes on each. One was located on First South and Third West, but because of general prejudice by the Saints against doctors, he decided to change his occupation. About twenty miles south of the city was the Porter Rockwell Ranch, of Halfway Station, where stages stopped on their way through the territory or on to Southern California. This ranch was held by Mr. Rockwell by virtue of squatter's rights and consisted of an eight-home adobe building where travelers could be housed and fed, and two large frame barns for teams and wagons. The water for the house came from a natural spring in the hillside where an old brewery stood. It was for this property that Dr. Dunyon traded one of his Salt Lake homes. There were approximately fifteen hundred poles on the place, which he agreed to buy at the rate of three poles for a dollar. After the Dunyons moved to the ranch it was discovered that a mistake had been made in making out the papers and they read $3.00 a pole. Mr. Rockwell held Dr.Dunyon to this part of the contract and as a result the family lost the other home in the city. Dr. Dunyon, with the aid of his wife, children and mother-in-law ran the Half-Way Station as an inn. A large sign hung near the house on which was printed "Our Mountain Home - Meals at all hours by J. L. Dunyon." Besides running the inn, the Dunyons homesteaded enough land to total 640 acres. Upon this land was located hot springs which Dr. Dunyon discovered contained medical properties and which he hoped would bring in additional revenue when he would be permitted to resume his medical career. In the meantime ranching was carried on and he devoted considerable time and money to mining, all of which was to no avail. The railroad went through to Provo in 1877 and it took away much trade from the inn. Ann became seriously ill and was confined to her bed for eleven months. After regaining her health she leased and took charge of the Brigham Young cocoonery which was located near 21st South and 11th East. With the help of her children was made one of the first attempts at silk raising in Utah. She raised the worms, reeled it from the cocoon, spun and prepared the raw silk for use. Because of the hardships in which the family was raised and the distance to school, the children had limited opportunities for education. Therefore, Ann was not only a mother but a teacher as well. On June 22, 1877, she died of typhoid fever and, on that hot June day, a sorrow stricken family brought her remains for twenty miles over a dusty road in a white-top light spring wagon to the city cemetery. Dr. Dunyon was a small, dark complexioned man with dark hair, piercing eyes and a high forehead. He weighed about 135 pounds. He was quick, active, high spirited and often acted on the spur of a moment. The following story is told by Lewis Dunyon, a grandson: John Ennis of Draper constantly flaunted grandfather with the fact that he had no faith or he would not be a doctor. Grandfather did not want to retaliate but rather win the good favor of Brother Ennis. He was the possessor of an army coat which was very precious to him. He knew that Brother Ennis admired the coat, so one night Grandfather went to the Ennis home and without seeing or telling anyone, left the coat. This developed into a lasting friendship between the two men. Dr. Lewis Dunyon died April 18, 1879 at the age of 68 years, in Salt Lake City. At the time of his death, according to his records, "the family property consisted of land near the Point of the Mountain (part of which is now occupied by the State Prison), a gray mare, one cow, and a bay stallion." His policy as a doctor was: "If I make you well you pay for my services - if I don't you pay only for the medicine." Dr. John Lewis Dunyon left his children a real heritage and one which could help all in today's troubled world. The following is written by one of his sons: In my father and mother's home we always had family prayer, usually both morning and night. We children would take our turn. The custome was for us to gather around the fireplace in the big dining room where father would read and explain the scriptures, then we had prayers and retired. During his lifetime Dr. Dunyon wrote hundreds of prescriptions of recipes, as they were called in pioneer days, which he copied in two large books. They are now in the possession of his grandson, Joy W. Dunyon, who furnished this data. The following are taken from his writings: Elixir of Life: (1 lb. gum myrrh, 1/2 lb. aloes, 1/4 lb. saffron, 1/2 lb. hops, 1/2 lb. rhubarb, 12 lb. chamomile, 2 oz. cayenne, 4 oz. cinnamon, 4 oz. cloves, 1lb. anise seed. Add water to cover well, strain, boil and add water so that there will be 5 or 6 gallons in all. Take lb. each of the following either poplar, boneset, jimson of balmory. Boil in water, strain and boil down so as to make in all 8 gallons, then add sugar, boil it with the bitter decoction and skim, then add it to the former mixture, flavor with essence of wintergreen and bottle. Dose 1 tbs. six times a day. Hive Syrup: (Senega snakeroot 1 oz., Virginia snakeroot 1 oz., saffron 1 oz., Queen of the meadow 1 oz., blood root, 1 oz., lobelia 1 oz. Add 1 quart whiskey, boil the dregs, obtain 1 quart. Add one quart of molasses, 4 oz. essence of hemlock and 4 oz. essence of sassafras. Dose 1 tps. to a tbs. every one or two hours in proportion to age. COMMENTS: 0 Views: 45 John Lewis Dunyon https://familysearch.org/photos/stories/2453533 | Dunyon, John Lewis (I29453)

The surname Stanton is derived from a place name, and is identical with Stonington in origin. The family is of ancient English ori- gin. Robert Stanton, an early settler of New- port, Rhode Island, was the progenitor of Hon. Edwin M. Stanton, of Lincoln's cabinet; died in Newport in 1672, aged seventy-three. There was a John Stanton in \'irginia in 1635, and Thomas Stanton, aged twenty, sailed for \'irginia in 1635 'n the merchantman "Bona- ventura". The family historian thinks he went to \'irginia, but many ships whose rec- ords state that Virginia was the destination came to New England. The "Bonaventura" may have landed some passengers in Mrginia, others in Connecticut or Boston. http://www.mocavo.com/visit?q=Elizabeth+Townsend&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.archive.org%2Fstream%2Fnewenglandfamili01cutt%2Fnewenglandfamili01cutt_djvu.txt&m=843877457c9047baa4ada2c295a6ab0a&i=11460507547789092876&title=Full+text+of+%22New+England+families%2C+genealogical+and+memorial+%3A+a+record+of+the+achievements+of+her ============================================================================================================================================= https://play.google.com/books/reader?id=ohwwAAAAYAAJ&printsec=frontcover&output=reader&hl=en&pg=GBS.PA9 Thomas Stanton Family History. Talks about Robert Stanton being Brother to Thomas Stanton*** A SKETCH OF THOMAS STANTON, TnE FIRST OF THIS FAMILY IN AMERICA, 1635-1677. Part I. A compilation of such facts relating to our first Stanton an cestor in America, as have been gathered from a multitude of sources, will form a proper introduction to this genealogy and history of his descendants. From the New England Historical and Genealogical Register (vol. ii, p. 113), we learn that January 2, 1635, Thomas Stan ton took passage for Virginia in the merchantman Bonaven- tura, and that he recorded himself as being twenty years old. The ship's record shows no other passenger named Stanton. It is certain, therefore, that he came unattended by any relative bearing the same name. There was a John Stanton in Virginia prior to 1635; from 1652 to 1688 there are records of a Robert Stanton of Dorchester, Mass., and another Robert Stanton, a Quaker, was a resident of Newport, R. I., prior to 1645. This Robert of Newport died in 1672, aged 73 years. His descend ants are now very numerous in the United States, and many of them are still Friends or Quakers. As Edwin M. Stanton, Lin coln's great Secretary of War, has been thought by many to be a descendant of Thomas, I will state here that he is in direct line from Robert of Newport. Savage and many of the older New England genealogists guessed that Robert was an older brother to Thomas, but there is not the slightest evidence to that ==================================================================================================== http://www.mocavo.com/visit?q=devonshire+repository&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.archive.org%2Fstream%2Fhistoryantiquiti04lips%2Fhistoryantiquiti04lips_djvu.txt&m=4fac0e10c2781319462dd4460875fd5e&i=08627137625349462677&title=Full+text+of+%22The+history+and+antiquities+of+the+county+of+Buckingham%22 A SECOND MANOR, called the Manor of Rroughton, which had belonged to that family from 1219 to about 1529, has been very unintelligibly described by Browne Willis, as having passed to William Lord Lovel, of Morley, who died seised, 23 July 1475; leaving a son, Henry, and a daughter, Alice. Henry died s. p. and was succeeded by his sister, Alice, who was married to Sir William Parker, created, in her right. Lord Morley, in 1510; and his widow married, secondly, Sir Edward Howard, K.G., second son of Thomas Duke of Norfolk, and died in 1518. On the death of John Broughton, Esq., s. p., the ]\Lanor passed by the marriage of Catharine, his daughter and heir, to the Hon. W^illiam Howard; whose son conveyed it to Henry Morton, Esq. circ. 1598 ; for he then held his first Court here, and soon afterwards sold the estate to Robert Stanton, Esq., who was in possession in 16-20. About ten years subsequently, Stanton sold it to William Knight, Esq., who held a Court here in 1632 ; and in 1634-5, he sold it to Bernard Gregory, Esq., of whose grand-daughters it was purchased by William Lowndes, sen. Esq. of Chesham, who bequeathed it to his son, William Lowndes, Esq. It was sold, apparently in 1633. "Whereas," says the Massachusetts govern- ment in 1641, "some lords, knights, gentlemen, and others did purchase of Mr. Edward Hilton and some merchants of Bristol two patents." The declaration of John Allen and partners in 1654 says that the Bristol men sold to Lord Say, Lord Brooke, Sir Richard Saltonstall, Sir Arthur Heselrig, Mr. Boswell, Mr. Willis, Mr. Whiting, Mr. Hewell, and others, for ;^2,i5o. " Whereas," says an old conveyance on record in Boston, dated 13 May 1648, "Lords Say and Brooke obtained two patents, now commonly called and knowne by the name of Swamp- scott and Dover . . . and whereas Robert Saltonstall hath bought twelve shares of the twenty five into which the patent is divided ; that is, of Lord Brooke four, of Lord Say one share, of Sir Richard Salton- stall and Mr. Boswell three, of Messrs. Burgoyne, Holyoke, Makepeace, Hewell, one share each." " The Lords Say and Brooke," wrote Winthrop in October 1634, " wrote to the governor and Mr. Bellingham, that how- soever they might have sent a man of war to beat down the house at Kenebeck, . . . they desired that some of ours might be joined with Capt. Wiggin, their agent at Pascataquack, to see justice done," " Capt. Wiggin," sayS Winthrop's Journal, 14 February 1635, "governor at Pas- cataquack under the Lords Say and Brook." The patent or patents, therefore, were divided into twenty-five shares; and these were bought and sold, as by conveyances on record still, as shares in modern land companies are bought and sold. In this company it is clear that Lords Say and Brooke held the controlling interest. How many shares the first-named had does not appear ; but Lord Brooke certainly held eight, eventually selling four to Henry Clarke and four to Robert Saltonstall, who also purchased the four from Clarke. " Honest men," as Howes said, were these owners; that is, they were in sympathy with Massa- chusetts and in the coming opposition to Charles and his court. At some time between 1631 and 1633 he became one of the purchasers of the Piscataqua grants of the Bristol men. He was associated with Lords Say and Brooke and George Wyllys . They continued Thomas Wiggin as their agent. He retained his interests in Maine until his death. He was "one of the most respectable of the settlers (of Hartford ) in 1636 , one of the civil and religious Fathers of Connecticut , a man of wealth and education, styled in the records, 'William Whiting, gentleman.'" In 1642 he was chosen one of the magistrates; in 1641 treasurer of the colony of Connecticut , an office he held the rest of his life. "In 1646 a plot was laid by Sequasson , Sachem of the Naticks , to kill Governor Haynes and Hopkins and Mr. Whiting on account of the just and faithful protection which these gentlemen had afforded Uncas. The plot was disclosed by a friendly Indian and the danger averted." He bore the title of Major as early as 1647 . He was one of a committee who for the first time sat with the court of magistrates in 1637 ; was admitted freeman in February, 1640 ; was magistrate 1642-47 , treasurer, 1641-47 . In 1638 he was allowed to trade with the Indians and was appointed with Major Mason and others to erect fortifications in 1642 , and in the same year was appointed with Mason to collect tribute of the Indians on Long Island and on the Main . He was a merchant of wealth and had dealings with Virginia and Piscataqua . He had a trading house on the Delaware river and another at Westfield, Massachusetts . His will, dated March 20, 1643 , states that he was about to make a voyage at sea. It bears a codicil dated July 24, 1647 . (See Trumbull's Colonial Records, or Hartford Probate Records). Whiting was powerful and useful in the colony on account of his broad views and wealth, which enabled him to carry out for the benefit of the community his large and various plans. Always an efficient promoter of the trade and commerce of Hartford , he had trading houses also in various parts of the country and he owned many large land patents. Governor Edward Hopkins and he were the two leading merchants of the colony of which Hartford was the centre. After the Pequot war was over they began to export corn "beyond the seas." ========================================================================================================= http://www.baberfamilytree.org/vera/doc/cards1.htm Interesting document on William Whiting being married in the year 1593. | Whiting, William (I1759)

My ancestress, Lucina/Lucinda Wilcox (dau of Jesse Wilcox & Jerusha ____) was born 9 Dec 1800 and d. 23 Dec 1867 Avon, CT. Her lst husband _____ Richards (poss. George, son of Pelatiah Richards, SR) d. ca 1825. Lucinda (Wilcox) Richards then returned to Avon, CT. with son James Richards. She m/2 6 Feb 1828 to Asaph Hart b. 1799 Avon, CT. Lucinda had a daughter Mary Hart b. 1834 and d. 1837. Sometime around this time Asaph Hart deserted her. Lucinda is buried in the West Avon, CT. cemetery and her mother, Jerusha Wilcox is buried next to her having died 13 Jun 1808 at Avon, CT when Lucinda would have been only 8 years old. I believe my Jesse Wilcox to be the one whose will is dated 27 Sept 1843 with distribution made 22 Feb 1845 as My gr-grandfather James Richards is mentioned in this will. Other beneficiaries listed were Julia L. Richards; Nancy Hosford of Canton, CT; Seth Willcox of the State of New York; Maria Willcox of the State of New York; Juliette Reynolds of the State of New York; and Samuel Clyde. Would love to hear from you if you know anything about this family........... Thanks, Marge in CT Reply Report Abuse Print Confusion Marge Marchese (View posts) Posted: 8 May 1999 6:00AM Classification: Query Surnames: Wilcox I was happy to hear from you concerning Jesse Wilcox of Avon, CT. I don't know why you feel confused. I guess I have come to the conclusion that there were 2 Jesse Wilcox's living in Avon, CT. at the same time. This is what is making it so confusing. As I stated I have copied the distribution of the estate of Jesse Wilcox dated 22 Feb 1845. In it he names James Richards, my gr-grandfather, as a benificiery. I also copied the pages from "John Wilcox of Hartford, CT and his Descendants" by Johnston. He is as confused as we are. I also found a reference to a Jesse Wilcox B. ca 1769; baptized 14 Apr 11773 at Amenia, Dutchess County, NY. It gives his spouse as Zephora Wetmore (More Confusion) and his parents as Jehiel Willcox & Deborah. Then I have another will for a Jesse Wilcox dated 15 Aug 1832 Then I have a probate record dated 20 Sept 1843 in which all persons who claimed that Jesse Wilcox owed them money were listed. Who should be last on the list but Asaph Hart the second husband of Lucinda (Wilcox) (Richards) Hart. He claimed that Jesse Wilcox owed him thirty pounds. So with the mention of Asaph Hart and also James Richards I'm sure that the Jesse Wilcox who died 1843 is my Jesse and not the Jesse who married 3 times and was son of Josiah Wilcox & Elizabeth Curtis. If you need copies of these documents send me your snail-mail privately and I will mail them to you. By the way, "Wilcoxson-Wilcox, Webb and Meigs Families" by Reynold Webb Wilcox gives the line of Hiel/Jehiel Wilcox and lists his children but follows only the oldest son, Nathaniel. Keep in touch and remember that there were two Jesse Wilcox living in Avon, CT at the same time. I have a family group sheet with info copied from "Your Ancestors" by Harry Ferris Johnston. It lists Jesse Wilcox born c 1757 Farmington, CT..married (1) Rhoda Andrews 16 Dec 1788 (2) Comfort (Mix) Beck. Rhoda was the daughter of Eli Andrews and Johanna Thompson. Jesse had two children (according to Johnston) Sophia born 1791 and Lucina born 1800. Lucina married (1) ______ Richards (2)Asaph Hart 1828. This Jesse was the son of Josiah Wilcox 1717-1776 and Elizabeth Curtiss. Jesse left CT and went to Granville, MA. Then I checked out IGI at www.familysearch.org. They have numerous listings for Jesse. Jesse married Comfort PECK 5 Feb 1794 Farmington-avon, CT Jesse married Comfort MIX c 1795 Avon, CT Jesse married Rhoda Andruss 16 Dec 1788 Berlin, CT Jesse b Dec 1758 Hartford..died 6 Nov 1836 s/o Josiah Wilcox and Elizabeth Curtiss. I have more on Josiah and so does IGI. Check them out and if there's anything else I can help with let me know. I'd really like to know where Jerusha fits into all of this. | 1473 | George Thomas Waterman was known by his middle name, Thomas, which was shortened to 'Tom'. He was probably named after his uncle Thomas, who was his mother's brother. This unmarried uncle usually lived with his parents and the two families always lived fairly close to each other--never more than just two or three miles apart in England. Emigration records show that 'Tom' age 7 (actual age was 11), traveled with his older brother William, listed as age 11 (actual age was 17), and returning LDS missionaries to the USA. They left Liverpool, England in a company of 120 people aboard the ship 'Dakota' on 14, October 1875. Part of their passage money was paid by their maternal grandfather, Benjamin Miller, who was 82 years old at the time and because of 'in-firmed due to age' had to remain in England. They arrived in New York on 26 October, 12 days later. They arrived in Utah on the 3rd of November. Until his mother and younger brother, Lemuel, immigrated to the United States two years later, Tom and his brother, William, lived with and worked for one of the missionaries they traveled with from England. By 1878 his father and older sister, Flora, also immigrated. The 1880 Census of Spanish Fork, Utah Territory shows that the parents and the three youngest children were living together. Tom was 15 years old and was a 'laborer'. He received his naturalization citizenship 7 September, 1894; he was 30 years old and had been married for 7 years. At the time of the 1900 US Census he, his wife, and children were living in Mapleton, Utah; he was listed as a 'farmer and construction worker'; he owned his own home without a mortgage; could read and write, had immigrated to the USA in 1876, and had been married for 13 years. By the time of the 1910 US Census of Desert Lake, Emery, Utah, his wife had died, he was 44 years old, and he was living with six of his eight children: Clifford 21, George 16, Ella 14, Ruth 11, Cecil 8, and Arthur 6. Also living in the home was a housekeeper, Lottly Christensen 27, and her two children, Elsie 11, and Leroy 6. Because his construction work kept him away from home, he sent money home to the housekeeper. It was learned later that she had 'pocketed' most of the money, causing the growing family to live on meager means. About 1913 Tom took George, the second oldest son to Susanville, California to work on the construction of a railroad. He also farmed there and his oldest married daughter, Elsie and her husband and young family went there for a year or so to help him. George returned home after about a year to his siblings in Utah. Else and her family returned to Salt Lake City, Utah. Tom, however, stayed and worked in California and Nevada. He did not return home for about 21 years. The 1920 US Census of Hazen, Nevada shows that he was living there with his second wife, Anna, and her three children: Cleo 13, May 7, and Delwin 5. All three children adopted the 'Waterman' name. Tom was married,'head of house', rented their home, and was doing 'construction' work. Four years later, that small family moved to Grand Forks, Canada. That was Tom's home for the following 13 years. He made no contact with the family he had left in Utah. Canadian Border Crossing Records show that Tom, his wife and three children left Lovelock, Nevada by railroad and moved to Grand Forks, British Columbia. They were admitted to Canada 27 May 1921. His occupation was listed as a 'farmer'. That same year the 1921 Census of Canada Grand Forks, British Columbia indicates that the family lives on Wellington Ave, owns their home which is made of 'wood', and has 9 rooms. They are 'Christian' and Tom is a 'Farmer'. They went to Canada in 1921. Ten years later, In September of 1931 his wife, Addie, and the two youngest children left Canada and returned to Idaho. The oldest girl, Cleo, had left years earlier because she could not 'get along' with her mother. In 1931 at the age of 66 a Border Crossing document described Tom as being "of medium complexion, 5 foot 6 inches tall, with brown eyes, and bald'. In 1933 Tom was living alone in Canada. He and his wife were presumably divorced. His adopted son, who was living in Albion, Idaho and a Utah granddaughter, who was visiting in Idaho, met by chance at a dance in Burley, Idaho. Thereafter, his adopted daughter encouraged him to contact his Utah family, which he finally did via a letter. Consequently, within months and with the financial aid of his Utah children he was able to return home to Utah. Border Crossing Records show that he left Canada 10 February 1934 in care of his son George to return to Price, Utah. He was 69 years old and 'single'. He had lived in Canada for 13 years. He had been away from Utah for at least 21 years! Throughout the years his children had unsuccessfully been looking for him. The reunion with his family was happy.Tom lived with various children in the Price area for the remaining 18 months of his life. According to his death certificate he died December 18, 1935 at 4:00am in the hospital in Price, Utah due to 'Acute Myocarditis' of eight days duration. He was buried December 22 in Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah. During a telephone conversation with the sexton at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, it was learned that 8 plots had been purchased, and that 6 were in use. Cemetery records did not show the burial of George Thomas. However a subsequent conversation with Laura Redenbaugh Jarboe, grandaughter, verified that she was present at the burial and that he is indeed buried next to his wife. She further stated that she, Laura, and her brother, Russell Redenbaugh, later purchased perpetual care. She related that the children of George Thomas jointly purchased the 'WATERMAN' marker. For years there had been individual metal markers at each grave which had been eventually discarded. As of this time, (2002) one plot remains unused. ========= 1900 Thomas Watrman in the 1900 United States Federal Census Name: Thomas Watrman Age: 35 Birth Date: Jul 1864 Birthplace: England Home in 1900: Mapleton, Utah, Utah Sheet Number: 10B Number of Dwelling in Order of Visitation: 164 Family Number: 174 Race: White Gender: Male Immigration Year: 1874 Relation to Head of House: Head Marital Status: Married Spouse's Name: Laura F Watrman Marriage Year: 1887 Years Married: 13 Father's Birthplace: England Mother's name: Mary A Watrman Mother's Birthplace: England Years in US: 26 Naturalization: Na Occupation: Farmer Months not employed: 0 Can Read: Yes Can Write: Yes Can Speak English: Yes House Owned or Rented: O Home Free or Mortgaged: F Farm or House: H Household Members: Name Age Thomas Watrman 35 Laura F Watrman 33 Mabel M Watrman 12 Clifford Watrman 10 Elsie Watrman 8 George W Watrman 6 Ella M Watrman 4 Ruth Watrman 1 Mary A Watrman 72 Source Citation Year: 1900; Census Place: Mapleton, Utah, Utah; Roll: 1687; Page: 10B; Enumeration District: 0157; FHL microfilm: 1241687 © 2017, Ancestry.com http://search.ancestry.com/search/collections/1900usfedcen/61791121/printer-friendly Actual Image: https://www.ancestry.com/interactive/7602/4115262_00137?pid=61791121&backurl=http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db%3D1900usfedcen%26indiv%3Dtry%26h%3D61791121%26indivrecord%3D1&treeid=&personid=&hintid=&usePUB=true&usePUBJs=true ========= 1910 G Thomas Waterman in the 1910 United States Federal Census Name: G Thomas Waterman Age in 1910: 44 Birth Year: abt 1866 Birthplace: England Home in 1910: Desert Lake, Emery, Utah Race: White Gender: Male Relation to Head of House: Head Marital Status: Widowed Father's Birthplace: England Mother's Birthplace: England Native Tongue: English Occupation: Farmer Industry: Gen Farm Employer, Employee or Other: Employer Home Owned or Rented: Own Home Free or Mortgaged: Free Farm or House: Farm Able to Read: Yes Able to Write: Yes Neighbors: View others on page Household Members: Name Age G Thomas Waterman 44 Clifford Waterman 21 George Waterman 16 Ella Waterman 14 Ruth Waterman 11 Cecil Waterman 8 Arthur Waterman 6 Gotty Chrestensen 27 Elsie Christensen 11 Leroy Christensen 6 Source Citation Year: 1910; Census Place: Desert Lake, Emery, Utah; Roll: T624_1603; Page: 23B; Enumeration District: 0043; FHL microfilm: 1375616 © 2017, Ancestry.com http://search.ancestry.com/search/collections/1910USCenIndex/28782523/printer-friendly?tid=&pid=&usePUB=true&usePUBJs=true&rhSource=7602 Actual Image: https://www.ancestry.com/interactive/7884/4454821_00497?pid=28782523&backurl=http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db%3D1910USCenIndex%26indiv%3Dtry%26h%3D28782523%26indivrecord%3D1&treeid=&personid=&hintid=&usePUB=true&usePUBJs=true ========= 1935 George Thomas Waterman in the Utah Death Registers, 1847-1966 Name: George Thomas Waterman Gender: Male Age: 71 Birth Date: abt 1864 Death Date: 18 Dec 1935 Death County: Carbon State File Number: 1935005019 Source Citation Utah State Archives and Records Service; Salt Lake City, UT; Utah State Archives and Records Service; File Number #: 1935005019 © 2017, Ancestry.com http://search.ancestry.com/search/collections/UtahDeathIndex/155076/printer-friendly?tid=&pid=&usePUB=true&usePUBJs=true&rhSource=7884 ========= 1935 George Thomas Waterman in the Utah, Death and Military Death Certificates, 1904-1961 Name: George Thomas Waterman Birth Date: abt 1864 Age: 71 Gender: Male Death Date: 18 Dec 1935 Death or Registration Place: Carbon, Utah, USA Source Information Ancestry.com. The first image, Document 7a, shows a document written in 1627 and which summarizes some, but not all, of the legatees. Words on the extreme left margin of the document are incomplete or missing due to tight binding. Words on the extreme right margin are partially illegible due to darkness of the image. The second and third images, Documents 7b and 7c, show the will as written in 1625. Together these two images offer the complete will. This will looks more like a draft then the final document. Many lines of the will, especially on Document 7b, are interposed one on top of the other making it extremely difficult, and in some cases impossible, to distinguish the individual phrases. Other phrases are crossed out. Words on the right margin are in some cases too dark to clearly distinguish. The Latin words and abbreviations are transcribed as found in the documents with the exception of the probate statement at the end of the will which has been summarized in an English translation. Sept. 4, 1728; d. ); m. 2d Sarah WHITING, Jan. 30, 1770. The date of his birth cannot be found on the Simsbury (Conn.) records; but on Feb. 14, 1743, when about seventeen years old, he chose Thomas Mar- vin, of Simsbury, Conn., as his guardian, the appoint- ment being confirmed by the court, Jan. 20, 1744; also he was made a freeman Sept. 15, 1747, so that 1726 is undoubtedly correct. He moved from Simsbury to Canaan, Conn., about 1752, and owned land in Canaan, which he sold and moved to Washington, then called Hartwood, Mass., between 1771 and 1776, as the old Massachusetts records show that he was 1st Lieutenant in the 17th Company of the 2d Berkshire Regiment (Colo- nel Simonds) during the Revolutionary War. He after- ward moved, judging from real estate transactions, etc., about 1790, to Coventry, N.Y., near which place he died at a very advanced age. Children: 42 Dorothy, 6. Feb. 7, 1749. 43 Martha, 6. He was born 1706 in Milford, CT, and died 3 Jan 1731/32. She married (2) ARCHIBALD MCNEIL52 Abt. 1736 in Prob Branford, CT. He was born 1708 in Branford, CT, and died 1752. George died at Canaan, N. Y., March 20, 1784. Phebe died at Canaan, April 17, 1791. She was the adopted daughter of William Bradford Whiting and Amy, his wife, and at the age of nine years went with the Whitings to Canaan; where at nineteen years of age she married George Hinsdale. Both are buried at Canaan, N. Y. http://archive.org/stream/hinsdalegenealog01andr/hinsdalegenealog01andr_djvu.txt ============================== https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=11&cad=rja&ved=0CC8QFjAAOAo&url=http%3A%2F%2Fquery.nytimes.com%2Fgst%2Fabstract.html%3Fres%3DFA0D13FC345B1B7A93C0AB178ED85F458285F9&ei=fu2JUcudOcSYygHp4oCAAg&usg=AFQjCNF6gsM8A6gb2NelwtkwAOWez88kHQ&sig2=LesjBQV8sjrBaykY6V1CZQ BIRTH: Also shown as Born Hartford, Hartford, Connecticut, United States.
