buried in Nailsea, altho it is possible that he is buried at Long Ashton.

The Order of Sir John Durbin Knight and Thomas Wilkins Morgan Esquire and of His Majesty's Justice of the Peace in and for the said county one where of is of the___and___ ___ ___ ___ the ___ of the Parish Church within the Parish of Backwell in the said county made the 19th day of July 1791 concerning a male bastard child lately born in the parish of Backwell aforesaid of the Body of Eleanor Millar single woman.
Whereas it hath appeared unto us the said justices as well upon the complaint of the Church warden and overseer of the poor of this Parish of Backwell aforesaid is upon the ___ of the said Eleanor Millar that she the said Eleanor Millar on the 25th day of February now last past was delivered of a male bastard child at the Parish of Backwell aforesaid and that the said bastard child is now chargeable to the said Parish of Backwell and likely to continue And further that Edward Weston of the Parish of Barrow in the said County husbandman did beget the said bastard child on the body of her the said Eleanor Millar And whereas the said Edward Weston hath appeared before us in pursuance of our summons for that purpose but hath not whereas any sufficient cause why he the said Edward Weston shall not be the respected father of the said bastard child We therefore upon examination of the cause and circumstances of the premises upon the oath of the said Eleanor Millar as do otherwise do hereby adjudge him the said Edward Weston to be the reputed Father of the said bastard child and do thereupon order as well for the better relief of the said Parish of Backwell as for the sustenation and relief of the said bastard child that the said Edward Weston shall and do forthwith upon notice of this our order pay or cause to be paid to the said Church Wardens and overseers of the poor of the said Parish of Backwell or to some or one of them the sum of One pound and five shillings for and towards the living of the said Eleanor Millar and the maintenance of the said bastard child to the time of making this our order. Bastardly bonds indicate that he is the father of Maria,Benjamin and Joseph
Millard of Backwell.He may also be the father of Eleanor and John Millard of St
Michael,Winterbourne,Gloucester(film #'s 1565463,1565464)

Records also indicate that Edward was church warden at Barrow Gurney from at
least 1792 thru 1816.In 1825 an Edward Weston also started signing as a church
warden,but the hand writing is different ,so it was likely that Edward Weston
,junior was then Church Warden.

From about 1815 thru 1835 Eleanor Millards name appears on the "poor rolls" as being given a stippend every 2-3 months(film #
1595662)Edward was sealed to Elizabeth Ogborn 9 Oct 1987.Her work was done in
1927.

!Was church warden of Barrow Gurney for many years.Was married 30 Apr 1766 to
Elizabeth Ogborn at Barrow Gurney,Somerset,had 6 children by her.

Was an husbandman(farmer)

No marriage ever found for marriage to Elinor Millard,but he is charged with bastardly conduct with her on at least 3 occasions.The entry as (found by Nancy Sandrock and reported to Evelyn Baird 23 Mar 1995)reads,"Edward Weston,the elder,farmer(husbandman) charged with bastardy upon the body of one Elinor Millard on 3 different accounts.
