    19th day of june anno dni 1622 and in the 20th year of the happy and the greeable reign of the most graious dreade sovern Lord James by the grace of God king of Englead.

    I William Lorde Morley Baron of Rye, Fynding myself - in health of my body. Though of good and perfect rememberance. Thanks be to almighty and well knowinge the mortality of mankind and the certainty of death. though the time uncertain - May seal apon me upwards, where by - - - for the settling of my personal estate. and the settleing of legacy of my children friends and servants do therefore make. and ordain this my last will and testiment. In manner and form following:

    And first and princapally I bequeath my soul unto my hands of my most blessed saviour and redeemer Jesus Christ. - Assuredly my time and his unspeakable mercy. and infiniet merritts and confidenty believeing that through his most bitter death and passion suffered apon the cross he became the soul and only sacrafice and proposition for my sins and that there by my sins are freely remitted and that my soul after this life shall assend into the everlasting paradise.

    With thee - - - - - - - - - - - She shall contiunally - thee heavenly - forever and ever. secondly I bequeffe my body to her mother earth. from wence it came to be burried at the descretions of my executors. {Hallingbury Morley} and pertaining to my worldly goods and chattells where with god hath indowded in this world. And made me his stuward and as touching my lands where with I have not already settled my estate by any convayence. - -

    In my life tyme first I give and bequeff unto my so William unto his heirs forever all that my capital messuage and all other in houses lands teaments and here heretaments situate, at or near {Mile End} in the parish of Stebuneth alias Stepney in the county of middlesex. - Unsinglular there every of their appurtenances to have and to hold to my said son William. and to his hierses forever.

    And and I give and bequeff unto my youngest son charles And his heirs forever all my houses lands tenements and heredements situate lyinge and in or near Godmancheter, in the county of Huntington, and Dainbridge. or in either of them with and with all and singular theri and every of there appurtances to have and to hold to my said son Charles and to his heirs and assignes forever.

    And I give and bequeff unto my daughter Frances the sum of 1000 pounds in money for her part and portion to be paid unto her out of the money due to be paid unto me by my Eldest son esq. Henry Parker and my Daughter Inlaw his wife or by one of them.

    Then i give and bequeff unto my youngest daughter Elizabeth the Sum of six Hundered Pounds in money. For her - - and person to the intent and purpose that therengh shall be bought a yearly - annuitty or rent charge 100 pounds per anum for my said daughter Elizabeth to have and to hold to and her assigns during her natural life for her matainence and livleyhood of living with said sum of 500 pounds is to be paid likewise out of the money due unto me by my son Henry Parker and my daughter in law his wife or by one of them.


    And i give and bequeff unto my daughter Katherine the sum of 6000 pounds in money for her part and portion. wherewith all will she shall 6000 pounds have 2000 pounds out of my personal estate and that she shall have and retain all the rents yssues and profits of my mannor of Branndon Hall and of all my other lands and tenements lying about or near unto the said mannor of Branndon Hall in the county of essex untill she shall recieve and have the other 4000 out of the rents and profits there of to make up her said portion 5000 pounds as afor said.

    And I make and ordain Thomas Leventhorp - sonne - - - John Leventhorp knight and Bornett and my servant Richard Mann Gent to be my overseer the my last will and testament. and I do further herby make and ordain the said { someon with a title} Gs Frances Goodwin Knight to be the - overseer of this my last will and testament. Hereby earnestly treating them my said overseers to see this my last will and testamentt truly preformed. In all things accourding to my true intent and meaning, giving them hereby full power and authority when need shall require to to call my said executor in question before my - judge or before channels or judge in any of his - equety by his legal proceedings that my said executor and the overseers of them my and shall make - and true account how my said Will that hath been or shall be preformed in all things and howe all my legecies and ever one of them hath been or shall be pay.

    And everyone of them hath been or shall be paid and preformed. And further my intent and meaning is that all my other bequests and legecies hereafter mentioned and titled in this my last Will either with my own hand or by any other person. the lease beinge subscibed with my own name shall likewise be paid by executor to such persons and such mannor as shall here after be mentioned in this my last Will or in a codisill by me hereafter made either in writing or by word of mouth published before any credible compitenet witnesses. in witness thereof I have here unto set my hand and seal and published this to be my last Will in the presents of

    AND I THE SAID THE LORD MORLEY do further give and bequeff unto my cousin Leventhorpe one of my executors. And my young colte that ranieth in my park of a said of - - and I do give and bequeff unto Mister William Hone my stuarde my gray gelding that runneth in my park, which was sent me out of the north. And i do further bequeff those legecies hereafter mentioned in this my Will or Codicill shall be paide out of the value of my plate, of apparel and of my horses and cattell, That is to say, unto my servant Richard Mann who is one other of my executors the some of threescore pouinds in money. { William Pollgreene ye some of thirty pounds in money to be paid my Servante } And unto my Servante Edward Chandler the some of twenty pounds in money. And unto Charles my Page the widdowe Phillips als. Woodwarde the some of twelve pounds in money. And I do further give and bequeath that out of my household stuffe and ymplemth of household stuffe that is or shall be at the tyme of my death either at my house at {Hallingbury Morley} or at my house at Milend {Mile End} all my funeral charge and of my burial be paide and discharged. And all the rest of my goodes and chattels { Not in this my Will or Codicill Bequeathed} After all my debts and legacies are duly paide and discharged, I give and Bequeath unto my so Gvr Henry Parker, But withthis provise, that my wife shall have the use and occupation of all of them all during her natural life.     I would advise you, as you tender your life, to devise some excuse to shift your attendance at this Parliament, for God and man hath con­curred to punish the wickedness of this time. And think not slightly of this advertisement, but retire yourself into the country, where you may expect the event in safety, for, though there be no appearance of any stir, yet I say they shall receive a terrible blow this Parliament, and they shall not see who hurts them.
