William married Swift, Mary in 1812 in Hampton, Washington, United States, New York, United States. Mary was born in 1775 in Connecticut, United States; died about 1826 in Hampton, Washington, United States, New York, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 5.  Swift, Mary was born in 1775 in Connecticut, United States; died about 1826 in Hampton, Washington, United States, New York, United States.

    Notes:

The only documentation we have in our research for Mary Swift are thefollowing - 1. Chauncey's record of death, where Mary is listed as his mother, and, 2. Paul and Rhea Peck's book "Ancestry" (pp.530-531) whereWilliam Whiting and Mary Swift, both natives of Connecticut are listed as the parents of Price Whiting. In the death records of Bethana and Calistana, Elsie Scribner is recorded and in Ruana's an Elsey Runey is recorded. It is my belief that Mary Swift was the mother of all of Williams children with the exception of Calistana whom was Elsie Scribner's and the second wife to William. I further believe that Mary died soon after Philander's birth in Hampton, NY and that there were complications in his birth due to the fact that he was listed as"idiotic" in later census taken in Castile, NY prior to William's death. William probably married Elsie in Warsaw, NY where together they had Calistana and Elsie undoubtedly played a large part in raising William's young family. One other thing that seems to point in this direction is the fact that Williams Daughter Lizana married a T. J. Scribner which may have been one of Elsie's from a previous marriage.
