    Notes:

A short account of the life of Edwin Byron Anderson,
son of Edwin Buckley and Emma (Whiting) Anderson
    By Melba (Anderson) Gunderson,
    1993

Edwin Byron Anderson was born on October 30, 1881 in Clitherall, Minnesota, the sixth child, having four brothers and one sister. A sister lived only a few months. There were to be five more siblings born into the family.
Most of his young years were spent in Minnesota except for the years between 1889-94 when his parents moved the family to Cedar County, Missouri. While living there, a sister was born in 1889 and twins, a boy and a girl, were born in 1892. In 1899 the family moved back to Minnesota and homesteaded in the Bemidji area.
In 1905, the family moved to the Vanscoy, Saskatchewan area where an older brother of Edwin's had taken a homestead, as well as some of Edwin's uncles.
In 1911, Edwin met and married a girl from Prince Albert, Nora Ellen Hourie, and settled down to farming in the Vanscoy area. In the winter months Edwin trapped and hunted. In 1922 the family left Vanscoy and moved to the Shellbrooke area where they lived until 1926. The family had grown over the years until there were four girls and four boys. In 1925, a little girl (Doreen) was born but lived only a few months. In 1926 they moved to Sturgeon Valley where another son was born. In October 1927, Nora Hourie Anderson died, after being diagnosed with a serious heart condition. She was buried at Sturgeon Valley Church cemetery (is now an Anglican Church) near Sturgeon Valley, Saskatchewan. A headstone was erected many decades later (in 1997 or 1998) by several of her descendants, after they were to finally discover the whereabouts of her last resting-place.
In 1934 Edwin and his three youngest sons, Orrin, Byron and Norman, moved to Mayview, Saskatchewan where his oldest daughter, Elsie and her husband Len Munson were homesteading. Edwin lived in Mayview until the late 1960's then moved to the city of Prince Albert, where by then, three of his daughters Elsie, Zella and Emma were residing. By that time his daughter Melba and her family had moved to Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Edwin passed away in Prince Albert in November 1970 and is buried there in South Lawn Cemetery.
