2. | Baldwin, Robert was born about 1573 in Reading, Berkshire, England; died on 10 Jun 1643. Notes:
^ Alexander Bryan married in England, Anne Baldwin, daughter
of Robert and Joan Baldwin, in March, 160;], of North Church,
Hertfordshire, where Robert died that month, a young married
man, leaving this one child. /
^ Robert Baldwin was son of Henry and Alice (King) Baldwin
of Dundridge, distance a little over two miles from North Church,
and in the parish of Aston Clinton, Buckinghamshire and adjoin-
ing Aylesbury. '
{ By Henry's will, dated 1599, Robert had lands in Flaunden^
Hempstead, and elsewhere in Herts. Robert's mother, Alice
(King) Baldwin, survived him, and in 1622 gave a legacy to Anne,
his daughter. The eldest son of Henry succeeding to the home-
stead, at Dundridge, was Richard. Richard and his wife died
childless, and Richard, by his will dated 1639, gave to Anne
Baldwin, then Anne Bryant, and her son Richard, the lands con-
veyed by the deed hereafter, v
/Anne's grandfather, Henry, was the eldest son of Richard and
Ellen Baldwin, of Dunbridge, and succeeded him there in 155f.
The Baldwins were an old family in the vicinity and the account
of it there occupies over seventy-five pages in my volumn, entitled
the Baldwin Genealogy, and issued in 1881.
1 am indebted to the following persons not named Bryan —
