He learned the trade of machinist when a very young man; became a skilled workman, and always, while in health, readily found employment. He married, Nov. 6, 1836, Anna Elizabeth Gudgeon, of Providence, daughter of John and Sarah L. (Wilbor) Gudgeon, who was born Oct. 13, 1816, and died in Wickford, Jan. 22, 1894.
